One of the country’s premiere importers of fine, handmade Italian ceramics, Tutto Mio is an American company doing its part to keep alive a centuries-old Italian craft. In the process, owner and desiger Marguerite Mazzitti is nurturing her own Italian roots and forming enduring relationships with the artisans throughout rural Italy who create Tutto Mio’s ceramic treasures. The BeginningAfter twelve years in the corporate world, Marguerite Mazzitti was ready to find a more meaningful career that spoke to her heart. She began working for Amalfi Collections, an Italian import company based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The move made sense to Marguerite, who has deep Italian roots: her great grandmother was a titled baroness, her grandfather was a mason, her great uncle was a furniture maker and she herself was raised in Naples until the age of ten. When the company came up for sale in 2003, Marguerite felt it was fate. She purchased Amalfi Collections and aptly renamed it Tutto Mio, which means “all mine” in Italian. The business of designing and importing hand-painted, artisan-quality ceramics from Italy is the perfect fit for Marguerite, who asserts that her love for all things Italian is part of her DNA. The HeartMarguerite carefully selects all of the retailers who carry Tutto Mio products, ensuring that each is as committed to her philosophy of aesthetic beauty and authenticity as she is. Tutto Mio is known for its use of unusually intense, vibrant colors, beautiful designs and exceptional workmanship.
Three or four times a year, Mazzitti visits her network of artisan groups in Italy, including the laboratorio, or studio, inside a beautiful old farmhouse in southern Tuscany where two talented fine artists and Master Potters, Carlo and Bruno, have worked together for the past 30 years. Carlo and Bruno are award-winning artists in their fields of sculpture and painting who met in art school and continue to produce gallery-quality artwork in addition to commissioned work. We are proud to carry some of the magical new Tutto Mio "rustic" pieces Carlo and Bruno have created. We are also proud to offer Tutto Mio's "noodle-handled" bowls. These stunning bowls are made by a Master Potter in the hills around Gubbio in Umbria from one of Marguerite's designs. Using local clay and employing techniques handed down through generations of master ceramists in his family, this Master and his family, with assistance from select apprentices, keeps alive a traditional Italian table art. Whereas several of the big-name ceramics importers have taken their business to Asia or Portugal in search of cheaper labor in the face of the weak American dollar, Tutto Mio would never consider such a thing. Above all, Marguerite is dedicated to supporting Italian artisans who maintain the ancient Italian art of making fine tableware. Marguerite has forged personal relationships with these painters and artisans, a sign of her commitment to keeping the traditional art form alive and relevant through challenging economic times. The HighlightsMarguerite considers Italians to be the masters of style and ceramics, and her mission with Tutto Mio is to promote Italian work. In doing so, she has created one of the most talked-about Italian ceramics importers in the country. We aren't the only ones that love Marguerite's ceramic pieces. Our two noodle-handled bowls were featured in the Houston Chronicle Holiday Gift Guide 2008 (11/27/08.) Tutto Mio also won the Best Tabletop Award at the Gourmet Products Show and has been featured in Bon Appetit, Country Living and Victoria magazines.
