ELEGANT ROOTS PRODUCT NOMINATION

Elegant Roots is a values-based e-commerce boutique that transparently offers high-quality artisanal gifts from eco-conscious and socially responsible designers / small businesses only. We carefully select our gift offerings based on our company values, including our determination that carrying a product will make a positive difference to people and planet.

We source our products from a variety of places, but always invite our customers and visitors to nominate products they believe we should consider for our Elegant Roots inventory.

In order to nominate a product, we ask that you take three easy steps.

First, please review our Values page and Our Four Ws (which are linked here or can be found on our navigation bar) and browse through a representative sampling of our products and our Designer Profile pages to better understand our guidelines, concept and format.

Second, please read the few Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) below.

Third, if you still believe your product suggestion fits Elegant Roots criteria, please fill out the brief Product Nomination Form below and either e-mail the form to us at admin@elegantroots.com or fax it to 510.373.6060. We will respond as quickly as possible by e-mail confirming we have received your form.

Does Elegant Roots charge a fee for a product nomination?

No.

Should I mail Elegant Roots a product sample?

No. If we pursue your product suggestion, we will request (and pay for) a sample at the appropriate time.

Will my information be kept confidential?

Yes. Elegant Roots will use your information for the purpose intended only, namely considering the product for inclusion in our gift collection.

Should I speak with an Elegant Roots representative about my product before sending in the Nomination Form?

No. There should be no need. We have set up this nomination process as our first step in product consideration. If, after following steps one and two above, you still have questions about our criteria or our nomination process, please e-mail us at admin@elegantroots.com. We will respond as quickly as possible.

What are your most important criteria for selecting products?

If you follow step one outlined above, you should have the detail you need to answer this question. You will learn that we carry a wide range of high-quality products, but all come from responsible small designers / businesses that make a conscious effort to improve the lives of people and / or planet in some significant way. We follow our company values closely and look for vendors with similar values. We carry no products mass produced in anonymous factories, no matter how meritorious otherwise, and no products made under unfair working conditions.

In a nutshell, we seek gift products that are high-quality, high-design and artisan-made (or made under carefully supervised fair trade conditions.) We choose products that are eco-friendly (meaning, among other things, that the designer / producer shows commitment to the environment by their materials, processes and/or the manner in which they run their business) and / or socially responsible (meaning, among other things, that the production provides fair wages and working conditions to economically marginalized people, supports traditional arts and lifestyles, teaches economically sustainable skills or supports an industry or artisans otherwise challenged by globalization.)
